Nordic Season Preparations Have Begun!

There is snow on the mountain again and we are getting ready for an awesome 2021/2022 ski season!

Mt. Shasta Nordic Center season passes are now on sale. Click below to purchase your 2021/2022 season pass today. In a move we should have made a long time ago, all trail passes for everyone under 18 years old are now FREE! Kids Season Passes are still listed & the process needs to be completed so we can hook them up with their pass, but there's no charge. Let’s get as many youngsters on the snow as we can this winter!

Preparation for the ski season is well underway. Our trail crew has been manicuring the trail system—mowing brush, removing rocks & stumps, and clearing hazard trees—to ensure the best winter trail conditions possible regardless of snow depth. Our mechanical team has serviced the snowmobile, grooming sled, and other Nordic Center equipment, and—most excitingly—is finishing up the rebuild project on the Nordic snow cat. Ms. Kitty has received a fully remanufactured motor and a whole lot of care as we’ve invested $25,000 and hundreds of hours from our volunteer mechanic crew.

There’s one big reason Mt. Shasta has the only groomed XC ski trail system between Tahoe & Bend; it is because volunteer time & energy has made everything above possible and is essential to getting the Nordic Center up & running for the season, just as it has been every year. The simple fact is that Nordic skiing in Mt. Shasta is a lot of work, and we barely cover costs most years.  We’ve always worked hard to keep our trails accessible by maintaining low fees, but depend on additional donations to make ends meet. If you’re able, please consider an additional donation to help us make things even better. You can donate when purchasing your pass for the season or at any time on our website. If you’d like to help specifically with the costs of repairing the snow cat, there’s an opportunity to do so here.

Beginning with the 2021-22 winter, Mt. Shasta Nordic is offering our Season Pass Skier Satisfaction Pledge to season pass holders. We strive to consistently offer a quality skiing experience and the Pledge is our marker of how seriously we take this promise. If nature provides but we fail to deliver, we'll provide whatever refund of pass fees you feel appropriate. There is only the slightest fine print: weather & snowfall are variables outside our control. We promise to do our best with what nature provides, but our satisfaction pledge can't cover lack of snow. We're all in this together, striving to make quality Nordic skiing happen in Mt. Shasta.

Our precipitation year is off to a wet start, and here’s to hoping that’s the theme of the season!

See you on the snow!
