Believe in what we do? You can support our path forward in 2026.
Vision for 2026
In 2026, our focus is on continuing trail stewardship, wrapping up the Nordic Center season, and advancing the Sustainable Recreation Plan. We’re committed to moving this plan forward — not letting it sit on a shelf.
South Siskiyou Sustainable Recreation Plan
As we’ve pursued key initiatives, including early concepts for the Town to Town Trail, it’s become clear that private land access presents real complexity. These challenges have required us to slow down, reassess, and consult with other recreation gateway communities and experts to determine the most thoughtful path forward.
Siskiyou County Outdoor Economy Matters
At the same time, we’re expanding our lens to better understand the economic power of outdoor recreation across Siskiyou County. We are seeking funding for a comprehensive recreation economic impact analysis to quantify how our outdoor businesses, trails, and recreation assets support local jobs, businesses, and community well-being. Strong data will help us advocate for access and smart investment in sustainable recreation infrastructure.
Sustainable Recreation Advocacy
We’re also engaging at the state and regional level — participating in outdoor economy working groups, planning for the 2026 Outdoor Economy Summit in Eureka, CA and 2026 Singletrack Summit in Redding, CA--and meeting with partners and policymakers to elevate recreation as an economic driver.
Trail Stewardship
Locally, we continue working with community partners and the Forest Service on trail stewardship planning and what we hope will be the final construction year of Gateway Phase II.
We're looking forward to more community engagement in 2026 as we chart a path to support our outdoor recreation culture and economy in Siskiyou County.
Thank you for being a part of this work!
