Thank you everyone for an amazing Nordic 2024 season!!

As another fantastic Nordic season comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who contributed to making it truly special. From the regulars who faithfully hit the trails week after week, to the newcomers who added fresh energy and enthusiasm, and the 800 students from school groups who brought laughter and joy to our paths, your presence and participation have made this season one to remember.

A special shoutout goes to all our dedicated staff members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that everything ran smoothly, your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. And of course, we cannot forget to thank our exceptional grooming team, Sean and Dan, whose skill and expertise have transformed our trails into the pristine corduroy that we all enjoy. Without them, our Nordic experience would not be the same.

As we look ahead to next year, we are filled with excitement and anticipation for all the possibilities that lie ahead. With your ongoing support and enthusiasm, we are confident that next season will be even bigger and better than before. Once again, thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of our Nordic community and for making this season one for the books. Here's to many more adventures on the trails together!

BUT WAIT THAT'S NOT ALL!
SORA has some incredible projects in the works and we would love for our Nordic Community to get Involved.

The Siskiyou County Local Transportation Commission (SCLTC) is working with Alta Planning + Design, Inc. and Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance (SORA) to prepare a countywide Active Transportation Plan (ATP). The plan will focus on identifying and prioritizing active transportation infrastructure projects, programs, and policies to meet the needs of the community. The ATP will focus on identifying opportunities to improve pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, such as crosswalks, bike paths, and sidewalks. These facilities connect residents and visitors with schools, parks, businesses, health care, transit, and other important destinations.

Whether you bike, walk, roll, use transit, or drive, we want to hear from you! Visit the links below for detailed information and to fill out our short survey.

Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance (SORA) is the recipient of a Sierra Nevada Conservancy Recreation & Tourism grant  to fund the South Siskiyou Sustainable Recreation & Trails Partnership, a sustainable outdoor recreation planning project. The project is one of several grants awarded by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) governing board in 2022. Funding for the project is restricted to South Siskiyou County.

SORA is working with Alta Planning + Design, Inc. to execute the project and develop a sustainable outdoor recreation plan for South Siskiyou County. The project will convene a broad coalition of people and organizations interested in sustainable recreation development to meet the existing and growing recreational needs of South Siskiyou County. We’re planning to convene cities, agencies, community groups, and the broader community to build stronger partnerships and prepare priority recreation projects for future funding. The project will also focus on exploring the viability of developing multi-use trails to connect the communities of Mt. Shasta, Dunsmuir, Weed, and McCloud. We anticipate the project will run through the summer of 2025.

We need your big ideas for the future of recreation in our backyard!
