Successful 2020 Virtual Walk/Run in the Books
Every year Mountain Runners, a program within SORA, puts on the Mt. Shasta 4th of July Walk/Run event. This event has been something important and special to the local community as well as participants who travel from all over the country each year. Due to COVID-19, the difficult decision was made to cancel the in-person event for the safety and well being of the participants and community. Although the in-person event could not take place, Mountain Runners successfully put on a virtual walk/run event!
2020 GOES VIRTUAL
The 2020 Mt. Shasta Virtual Walk/Run allowed participants from all over the country to complete their walk/run from wherever they may be. This option allowed us to keep the spirit and tradition of the 4th of July alive. Participants tracked their walk/run through an app and uploaded their results to the results page to share with fellow registrants.
2020 SHIRT DESIGN
When participants register for the event, they receive a t-shirt featuring the year, the mountain, and a wildflower. This year’s shirts were designed by local artist Dana Bainbridge.

LOCAL SUPPORT
Mountain Runners reached their goal of 650 participants this year, with proceeds shared with numerous beatification projects enhancing downtown as well as funding distributed to local youth sports, nonprofit, and community groups.
GRAND PRIZE!
Registrants this year where entered in a Grand Prize package drawing, featuring a YETI cooler donated by local business Ramshaw’s Ace Hardware, as well as a GIANT Gravel bike!
The lucky winner of this year’s drawing was Angela Ferrari, from Mount Shasta, CA. She completed the 5 mile run with her daughter!
