It’s that time of year!

Nordic Center Season Passes On Sale Now

Leaves are dropping, a light rain is falling and oh boy are we looking forward to winter with you! This season is going to great, with facilities improvements, our stellar staff coming back and a brand new groomer providing meticulous trails for classic and skate skiing.

Season Passes are on sale now and we encourage you to buy them online on the Nordic Center website. We're offering passes for adults and seniors at a discount if you buy online through December 10th. Kids 17 and under still ski for free.

As the Nordic Center grows, with new amenities, a new groomer and more facilities coming next year, your purchase of a season pass supports the terrific programs and services we offer to our community, visitors and school groups.

New this season - vault toilets

Is it odd to be excited about a toilet? Well, we are! The Nordic Center is getting new poopers the week of Nov 6th. No more blue rooms!

The installation of the Double Cascadia Vault Toilets is the first project in the  $1.1 million State Department of Parks and Recreation grant to update the lodge and operations facilities. We'll also see some expansion of the parking lot, grading and gravel thanks to the Mt. Shasta Trail Association's completion of tasks in the Gateway Phase II build out. More room to park this winter and much nicer "facilities". So good.

Next summer we'll see the installation of the new lodge facility, rental and shop trailers. That's going to be exciting. Even more exciting than new toilets.

We need your support on Giving Tuesday
to purchase the new groomer

More good news - the new Pisten Bully 100 groomer will be delivered in early December. Our groomers, Sean and Dan, are so excited to put this new machine to work to bring you stellar grooming. They worked hard last season to provide the best grooming possible and with this new machine, we're all going to be thrilled with the trails.

The need to purchase a new machine became clear at the end of last season - if a new groomer couldn’t be purchased then the Nordic Center’s future was in question. In spring 2023, the SORA board made a leap by putting a $30,000 deposit on the purchase of the new machine, which has a $299,000 price tag. This was possible with the support of The Nancy Driscoll Foundation, individual Nordic donors and community fundraising efforts.

In the fall of 2023 The Ford Family Foundation became a partner in the groomer purchase with a generous grant. SORA has committed funding from its financial reserves for a portion of the purchase. Even with those funds, SORA will need to take out a loan for $185,000 to complete the purchase. And that’s where you can help.

You can make a gift on Giving Tuesday to help SORA reduce the amount of debt and interest it will pay over the next five years. This is a big investment in our community and we are very appreciative of your support. The groomer will bring our community spectacular grooming and enjoyment of our winter wonderland for many years to come. Join in our community of supporters by making a gift.
