GRINDURO CALIFORNIA CANCELLATION ANNOUNCEMENT

The organization that present Grinduro California, the Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance (SORA), are disappointed to announce the cancellation of Grinduro California 2024. Rest assured, full refunds will be provided to all those who have registered.

This difficult decision has been made due to a combination of factors, including rising costs, economic pressures on regional partners and sponsors and the challenging state of the bicycle industry in 2024. All of these factors have impacted SORA’s ability to fund the high cost of producing this event.

Grinduro California has been produced by Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance, the local non-profit organization, for the last five years – a period of time which saw unprecedented challenges. First it was Covid, then a National Forest closure due to wildfires in 2020 and 2021. SORA was however able to host the event in 2022 and 2023, bringing riders and community members together for a fantastic event. Those years raised $60,000 for trail stewardship and sustainable outdoor recreation planning projects, for which SORA is very grateful.

Putting on an event as large as Grinduro California has significant financial costs. After months of working behind the scenes to try and secure regional/local sponsorships and product partnerships that are necessary for this event, SORA has unfortunately had to take the decision to cancel. By making an early decision to cancel the event, we are able to give a full refund to riders, as we are limiting the financial losses to SORA.

Grinduro Global has five other events in 2024 and a wonderful array of sponsors: Shimano, Schwalbe, Wahoo, Leatt and PRO. It’s been a pleasure to work with Grinduro Global and we’re really proud of the work we’ve done together. SORA is grateful to current and past sponsors and Grinduro Global for bringing this event to the community of Mt. Shasta. We’re thankful to the riders, families, community volunteers and staff of sponsors and partners who have made these two years of maxin’ and relaxin’ in Mt. Shasta so good. Thank you all.
